More details on Coram Deo: A School for Discipling Nations

Update: Coram Deo is now LIVE! GO NOW

Here at the DNA Global Secretariat office, we’re working hard to put the final touches on the DNA’s new online learning platform, Coram Deo: A School for Discipling Nations. Click here and watch this video to learn more about this exciting tool we hope you will use!

We have designed this tool specifically for church small groups, faith-based organizations and individuals who yearn to see more of God’s kingdom radiating through themselves and their community.

Are you thinking about how you can use this training in your church, workplace, family or community? We hope so!

Here’s a sneak peek into the 12 lessons of the Coram Deo “Basics” course. This video is from lesson 2: The Transforming Story:

Our last blog post on Coram Deo elicited dozens of responses and questions. Here are a few, in case you’re wondering:

What is the format of the training? Will there be a platform for discussion?

There are 12 lessons. Ten of them will include a video presentation, brief readings, real-life application, a 10-question quiz, and reading recommendations for those who wish to go deeper into each topic. Two of the lessons are “labs” designed to help you apply what you’ve learned in your own community, then share that experience with other Coram Deo students through your private class discussion board and the larger Coram Deo Facebook group. Each class will be led by a certified Coram Deo facilitator.

When will the training start? What if I miss a week?

There are three ways to take the Coram Deo course:

  • Join an open class: The DNA Global Secretariat will facilitate about three consecutive Coram Deo classes this year, the first one starting in April or May. We’ll announce the class dates soon in this news blog and our e-newsletter, so stay tuned! If you miss a week, you can always go back and review the material on your own–you only would lag behind on the class discussion.
  • Join or facilitate a private class: Many of our affiliate organizations will conduct private Coram Deo classes for their staff, and you may facilitate a class for your own workplace, church or community after being certified. To get certified, you must pass the final exam at the end of the Coram Deo “Basics” course. We will provide guidance for new facilitators wishing to lead a class.
  • Individual self-study: As soon as you create a free Coram Deo account, you’ll immediately have access to all of the lessons and materials. You can breeze through it in a week or work on it throughout the year–the pace is up to you. You can discuss what you’re learning with other students in the Coram Deo Facebook group.

Is Coram Deo accredited by a formal university or available in languages other than English?

Ideally, we would love to have formal accreditation for Coram Deo but, presently, we do not have such a relationship with any university. As for non-English translations, we welcome inquiries from anyone wishing to dub the video presentations and translate the written materials into other languages. Please click here to see how we normally handle translations of DNA materials.

Be sure you’re receiving our e-newsletters and following us on Facebook to get the latest news on Coram Deo!

I have just read 3 of Darrow’s books. Am very interested in the course. How much does it cost? The self guided course seems the way I would go.

Hello Dave, great to hear from you! The course itself is totally free. At the very end of the 12 lessons, there is an optional quiz that we’ll offer for a small fee (no more than $20 USD). Passing this quiz earns you a proper certificate of completion and the ability to facilitate your own Coram Deo class. As I mentioned, however, this quiz is optional, and the materials and classes themselves are free of charge. Thanks!
