"The material that Mr. Miller and Mr. Moffit have put together has changed my life. I am currently implementing many of their suggestions personally in hopes of impacting my own community and church for the Kingdom."

Worldview & Development Workshop

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Rom. 12:2)

WorldviewThe root cause of all forms of poverty and hunger is ultimately the set of ideas, beliefs, and values to which people hold and by which they govern their lives. These include ideas about ultimate reality, humanity, the physical world, and the meaning or purpose of life.

Yet all truth is God’s truth—and Truth has the power to transform people, nations, and the systems that people create and support. The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God and reveals God’s Truth to all people about the nature of ultimate reality, the source of evil, the origin and nature of the physical universe, the meaning and purpose of human life, and the goal of history. It ultimately applies to every area and sphere of life.

The Worldview and Development Workshop explores the relationship between worldview, poverty, hunger and development. It examines the foundational role of worldview in contributing to the development or impoverishment of communities and nations.

Designed for Christian missionaries, relief and development practitioners and those who have an interest in topics of hunger, poverty and development, the Worldview and Development Workshop covers the following topics:

Relief vs. development vs. transformation
  • The root of poverty: Not a lack of resources, but rather false belief systems
  • The role of three false belief systems in contributing to poverty: Animism, secular materialism and Evangelical Gnosticism
  • How the biblical worldview provides the only sure foundation for transformational development
  • The goal of development—not funds spent or projects completed, but a process of advancing towards “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
  • The biblical worldview and resources: needs based vs. asset based development
  • Donor-driven vs. community-driven vs. God-driven development
  • Economic stewardship—free market models for development rather than social service models
  • Wholistic community development requires a biblical paradigm
