We first heard of this bill when a reporter contacted us to gain our opinion on the bill last Friday (December 11). We have since obtained a copy of the bill and are now examining it.

In an earlier update, we shared how the DNA has joined in a partnership with many other organizations for the purpose of defending and supporting a Christian worldview. We have enjoyed seeing the launch of the hosting website and are now experiencing increased traffic on our own website due to the link from the eight free downloads that are posted on their site. You can view these downloads on their site through searching for Darrow Miller, Scott Allen, and Bob Moffitt. Beyond our materials, they have much more dealing with Christian worldview in spheres all across the board. Take some time to explore the spheres that are important to you! http://www.colsoncenter.org

Great Commission Workshop in Puerto Rico, November 9-20!

We are excited to invite you to attend Darrow Miller's new teaching series, "The Great CO-Mission," in Puerto Rico this November! Explore with us the sufficiency of the biblical worldview in creating societies of freedom, beauty, and justice. Around the globe, the atheistic and Islamic worldviews are competing for adherents, and yet, both of these paradigms ultimately result in license, death, and tyranny. This is an opportunity for Christians and the Church to reawaken to their roles as change-agents in every area of society, recognizing Christ's reign and imminent return. After exploring the ideas and consequences of atheism and Islam, Darrow will lay out God's mandate for the 21st century Church, which must begin by recovering a comprehensive and biblical understanding of Christ's Great Commission. The conference is hosted by YWAM Puerto Rico at their base near San Juan. It will run from November 9 - 20. Lodging for the entire event is available for $300. Arrivals can be scheduled for November 7 into San Juan (SJU) and departures for November 21. You may also inquire about attending for just a portion of the teaching if you are not available both weeks. This will also be a good opportunity to network with the DNA and other like-minded individuals in your vocation. Reserve your room or request more information with Tim Williams (U.S.) and Cherish/Yarley (Puerto Rico). Check back in October at http://www.disciplenations.org/seminars to learn more about the Great Commission Workshop and explore the power points.

The Disciple Nations Alliance Partners with the New Chuck Colson Center for Biblical Worldview

In January, the Disciple Nations Alliance was invited to attend a special gathering of church and ministry leaders focused on biblical worldview and transformation. The gathering was convened by Chuck Colson and BreakPoint, and was called "The Movement Summit." Its aim was to foster greater collaboration, synergy, and impact in reforming the culture of the United States. Flowing from this gathering, an exciting new project has been launched. "The Colson Center for Christian Worldview" equips a movement of believers who want to defend and live out a thoroughly biblical worldview in this postmodern age by means of a unique interactive website. At the center of this site is a vast virtual library that pulls together the worldview teaching of the great Christian thinkers, ancient and modern. The Disciple Nations Alliance is pleased to be an official partner of the Colson Center. We invite you to visit this new resource, where you will find the core messages and books of the Disciple Nations Alliance.

Fruit from the DNA Forum in Hong Kong

I thought you would enjoy hearing what one of our Forum participants included in their recent newsletter: As I mentioned(complained about) in my previous newsletter, I left a recent conference inHong Kong with a honey-do list that might as well have included items such asbring about world peace. After much praying, fasting, discussion, garneringopinions, we have finally wrestled down a focused list. Here is one on the top: A City-Based Program A passion of mine is tosee God's name glorified. It breaks my heart that so often the Christians arethe poorest and looked down on by others. Christian workers are known for beingless diligent than Non Christians to the point that many Christian businessmenwill not employ Christians. In many cases God's name is not being glorified inthis nation. Over the past four years we have been blessed to see a real turnaround on this in the rural areas. As one person shared recently: Beforewe were the poorest village. But now we are the richest. As the poorest villageit was hard for us to reach the other villages, they looked down on us. But nowthey can see that our God can do more for us than the government can do forthem. Now they are open to us coming to their villagers to help and share aboutChrist. While that is exciting,it is happening in the most isolated pockets and still out of the view of mostof the people. Our hearts are now becoming increasingly burdened by the factthat God's name is not glorified throughout this nation. While the ethnicminority people and the local governments in those rural areas might be seeingGod for the great God that he is, in most of the country God is seen assomewhat strange, irrelevant, unknown or even to be despised. While we recognize ourlimitations, our passion to see God's name glorified has inspired us to start acity-based program. Exactly what that will look like is hard to say. The churches in the city are overwhelmed withtraining so I "aren't" sure that training is the best solution. We are currently praying that God will open theright doors and lead us in the right direction. At the moment we are translating books andputting together some new materials. We would welcome your prayers as we look for answers.

The DNA began as a collaboration between Food for the Hungry and Harvest in 1997, and since that time, several other "Cooperating Organizations" have joined the alliance. Cooperating organizations have adopted, utilize or promote Disciple Nations Alliance materials and resources as a integral part of their ministry. Recently, two new organizatons have joined the ranks: Churches Together and Partners in Christ International. Churches Together is helping to lead a movement of North American churches enabling them to establish effective, relational and mutually transforming partners with African churches that assist them in their fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Executive Director Robert Brown uses DNA materials as part of his church training program, and cooperates closely with our DNA Africa Affiliate, Samaritan Strategy Africa. Partners In Christ International is a Phoenix-based organization which empowers and equips indigeneous churches to develop and expand their own vision and strategy for mission and for the transformational development of their churches and communities. They have become a primary champion of DNA materials and training through their excellent work in Mexico and elsewhere. The Executive Director of Partners In Christ is Nick Beezhold.

Spring has been an exciting season for us as we have responded to three workshop invitations in the U.S.! We are hearing from an increasing number of Americans that are eager for the messages of the Kingdom, biblical worldview, vocation, and strategically influencing their culture. We were honored to speak in Tempe, AZ; Oxford, OH; and Greeley, CO. We hope for more opportunities later this year at a location near you!

Representatives Enjoy Trip to China in March

During our trip, we found that even though the church has experienced persecution in the past, things are becoming increasingly open. Believers did not seem overly concerned with security issues, although a certain level of caution is still there. Some have even opened a Christian Bookstore and coffee shop. In spite of the cold weather, the reception we received from the 30+ house church leaders was extremely warm. We taught these dear brethren all day for 5 straight days and they always seemed eager for more. I was so moved to hear the great vision they have to see their nation become Jesus' disciples. One day we had the opportunity to drive over the high passes of the Tibetan Plateau. We then spent another week sharing with an enthusiastic group of about 30 house church leaders. It is a humbling experience to teach people who have laid down everything to serve Him. The area we were in has a large population of Tibetans. We visited a large Tibetan Buddhist temple on our way back to catch our plane to Beijing. The devotees of this religion are incredibly dedicated, but it was sad to see this devotion to idols that cannot see and cannot hear. We observed people who were literally crawling on their bellies for many miles as an act of merit making. It made me feel really sad. We also visited one of the most prosperous areas of China and were astounded to hear about the large population of Christians! Although the churches there are still low profile, they are operating quite openly and many have large facilities. There were over 40 house church leaders who attended the week of teaching. The church there has started two different types of training schools-one for training pastors and one for training cross-cultural missionaries. We appreciated the great vision they have. Overall, we were extremely blessed to have the opportunity to share with these front-line Chinese church leaders. Although, the believers continue to be careful, our sense was that in the last two years the government of China has finally begun to realize that the church is not a political threat. They seem to be taking more and more of a hands-off policy. This was really encouraging to us. I enjoyed being able to use some of my Chinese again. Although I did not feel confident enough to teach for the whole week in Chinese (we had excellent translators), I was able to interact with the participants in Chinese and I was surprised at how quickly it came back to me.

Historic Vision Conference in Togo, West Africa

This just in from DNA Trainer Chris Ampadu in West Africa: Last week's visit to Lome, Togo for a Vision Casting amongst denominational leaders was phenomenal. Samaritan Strategy Africa has been working in Togo for the past five years but it has been very difficult to bring all the churches together and they are divided in most fronts and some of the heads cannot even meet to talk. Through our team leader, Pastor Happy, l wrote to all the heads of denominations and church federations for a vision casting event and without knowing me, almost all of them responded to my invitation. For some of the pastors, it was a miracle to see some opposing pastors sitting together to listen to the wholistic transformation message and later spending an hour discussing issues that were raised. For the first time in the history of the church in Togo, we had these key leaders sit and even eat together. It was historic and God glorifying and Pastor Happy couldn't hide his joy when he said, "Today, the heavens are rejoicing because such a gathering of church leaders has taken place in this country."

Nurturing the Nations is Released

Paternoster Publishing announced the release of Darrow L. Miller’s latest book Nurturing the Nations: Reclaiming the Dignity of Women in Building Healthy Cultures. According to Miller, “The book addresses one of the greatest causes of worldwide poverty: the lie that men are superior to women. Our world is filled with nations that are impoverished largely because half of their people—the female population—are disenfranchised.” But this is not just a book about women; it is a book that deals with the intersection of three seemingly very different subjects: women, poverty, and worldview.”
